Young Melodians Event
From 12.00 onwards the Young Melodians event - for pupils and students from Y1-Y13 - will complement the programme.
This year the range of instruments will widen beyond the traditional Brass to any which can sustain a solo - guitar, accordion, clarinet etc. (Sorry but we can't manage Drum sets and Grand Pianos!) This will be adjudicated by Ashley Ashworth, well known Head Musician and Chairman of a Saddleworth Band, and an Award winning musician who has toured internationally and frequently appeared on television and BBC / GMR radio.

"A call to young musicians – a chance to showcase your talents!
Saddleworth Show Committee is inviting Young Melodians to take part in an event for young players (brass or instrumental) which is part of the Show.
Youngsters in three age groups (Y1-6; Y7-9; and Y10 – 13) are invited to perform an unaccompanied solo on their instrument, of not more than 5 minutes, during the afternoon of the show between 12.00 and 3.45 p.m.
Each entrant will receive an Adjudicator's Certificate with a trophy and prizes of £15 for the best in each category, with £10 & £5 for runners up. There is free entry to the show for all participants. (Show your instrument to the gatekeepers.)
