Once again Music and the performing arts will be an important element at this year’s Saddleworth Show on 28th June. What's more there is still room for youngsters who may want us to showcase their talents.
Saddleworth Show 2015
The Saddleworth Show 2015 - a joint project between the Saddleworth and Oldham Metro Rotary Clubs - will be held on Sunday 28th June at Well-i-hole Farm Greenfield. Show Chairman Steve Hughes of the Oldham Metro Club told us: The plan this year is to take the show back to its roots as a Country Fair with acts, attractions and activities for children and families which build on that theme. It is going to be a great show - we are planning to have Falcons, Chainsaw Carvers, Donkeys, Llamas, a petting zoo, Dog training, Classic Cars, Dry Stone walling, Chinese Kick Boxing, a climbing wall, craft and sport demonstrations, archery, Fly fishing and a casting contest, and much more. The very popular Duck Race will take place in the afternoon on the River Tame which flows through the site. We will have a stage so that Bands and our Young Talent Showcase will continue. All that backed up by the usual Craft, Charity and Food stalls. It will, as ever, be a great afternoon out for all the family.
With the Country Show theme we thought that it would be good this year to stage it on a working farm with the additional major advantage of parking on site.
Committee Secretary Mel Farrar said, “We have by no means ruled out Churchill for future shows – it is a really good venue in a magnificent setting - but since we were making a change from the school we thought this was a good time to try something entirely new. “
